In 2022, the University of Bristol developed and created a Translational Impact Hub that supports academics accelerating their research impact.
The Hub is managed and led by a team that consists of experienced individuals with expertise in different areas such as commercialisation, impact development policy and KTP. The Hub is designed to be a go-to place for academics that have potential impactful research projects that require a more holistic support approach.
As part of the project the team created a report giving insight into the Hub’s workflows and team constellation (this is only available to Aspect members on the Aspect Members Platform here).
The team meets on a regular basis and discusses the progress of projects and invite academics to present their research in order to judge the potential impact of and support opportunities the team can offer. Furthermore, they developed a project tracker tool that enables the Hub team to map efficiently the progress of the projects they support and the stages they are currently in. This tool, called DLGS (Discover, Launch, Grow , Scale) framework enables the team to create a funnel of projects and ventures and track interventions. It also allows to detect projects that are in need of more support.
This report provides several examples of activities the Impact Hub is working on.
