SHAPE Pre-Accelerator 2023

The SHAPE Pre-Accelerator is an online programme that supports researchers from the Social Sciences, Humanities
and the Arts explore routes to generating sustainable impact at scale.

The SHAPE Pre-Accelerator Programme aims to support academics and build knowledge and experience, prior to them taking part in the ARC accelerator programme.

The SHAPE Pre-Accelerator is open to ALL members of Aspect, and will provide an opportunity to:

  • Develop academics entrepreneurial competencies
  • Connect academics with like-minded colleagues from other Universities who share similar ambitions
  • Inform the focus, design and impact of future research
  • Explore routes to achieving impact at scale for academics and their idea’s
  • Test ideas and assumptions with external stakeholders to better understand their problems

Due to this success, we will be running 5 online cohorts of the programme will be running in from January – September 2023. (details and dates attached).

There are 20 spaces for projects, which are available on a first come, first served basis.

There are two cohorts of participants with different schedules throughout the Autumn Term. This will hopefully increase the ability for one of your academics to attend the programme.

You can find details of the sessions, dates and times, in the documents available for download on this page:

Agenda for 2023

The programme requires participation by the academics at all sessions online and for a TTO/Commercialisation colleague to attend the sessions with them for support. There is some flexibility in attending Session 3 and 4 for TTO, but it is desirable if they can attend each session. Alongside these sessions the programme requires that you provide 2 hours additional support per project, and that the academic spends an additional 2 hours on their project per week of the programme.

For further details or for a chat about the programme, please feel free to contact James Woodhams from the University of Exeter on j.c.b.woodhams@exeter.ac.uk
