  • Problem

Although Bitcoin network data is publicly available, it is difficult to collect, clean, validate and analyse in a structured form. This creates a significant technical barrier for academics, regulators and practitioners seeking to use blockchain data for research, teaching, policy, compliance and financial analysis.

    Solution

CUBiD is a Cardiff University-developed data platform that makes Bitcoin network data easier to access and use without advanced programming or database expertise. It provides a structured core data layer covering block headers, transactions and transaction details, alongside post-processed datasets that support analysis of blocks, addresses and wallet activity. The platform is designed for teaching and research use by academics, regulators and practitioners, with applications including anti-money-laundering analysis, fraud detection, cyber security, accounting, asset pricing and cryptocurrency research. The CUBiD team also offers tailored advice and data-analysis support, enabling users to focus on their research or application rather than the technical work of preparing blockchain data.
